Solo Opportunities

The privilege of performing a solo in a concert is given to performers whose voices show strength, good pitch, correct notes, correct vowel shape, and have excellent facial expression and stage presence.  Singers must demonstrate proficiency in group songs in order to audition.

All singers who qualify (see above), will have the opportunity to audition for solos.

Singers must have their solo choices approved for suitability before beginning work on them.

Soloists must be available to attend both the solo workshop and the rehearsal with the band. These dates are listed on the Calendar page of this website. Please reserve these dates on your own calendar if your singer is planning to audition for a solo.  Attendance at the solo workshop and the band rehearsal is not negotiable.

Singers must provide an accompaniment track for their solo auditions and should have their solos memorized. They are expected to appropriately communicate the message of their chosen solos with appropriate facial expression.  Choreography is not necessary for auditions, but those auditioning should feel free to use movement and gestures if they so desire.
